Pottery By Noor

Hi, I’m Noor. My journey with pottery began in Brazil, where I studied both hand-building and wheel throwing while living there. I fell in love with the craft immediately and was inspired not only by the creative process but also by the sense of connection and mindfulness that pottery brings.

From the beginning, I was passionate about sharing this art form with others, particularly younger people. I wanted to introduce them to the world of ceramics and encourage them to explore their creativity from an early age. Who knows where that journey might lead? Developing artistic skills and confidence at a young age can open up incredible opportunities, whether pottery becomes a hobby, a lifelong passion, or even a future career.

I went on to teach pottery classes in Saudi Arabia for three years, helping students of all ages discover the joy of working with clay. Today, my pottery journey continues in the UK, where I have created a welcoming studio at Durleighmarsh Farm. Since opening the studio, I’ve been running classes and workshops designed to inspire creativity, build confidence, and share the magic of pottery with the local community.

Alongside teaching, I create my own collection of ceramic pieces that are both functional and durable, designed to be enjoyed and used in everyday life. Many of my works are decorated with Arabic words, reflecting my heritage and adding a personal narrative to each piece.

My ceramics are refined in form yet created with the intention of being handled, used, and lived with. Every piece is unique, carrying subtle surface textures and the distinctive marks left behind during the throwing process. These details capture the movement of the clay and the touch of the maker, giving each piece its own character and story.

Working primarily on the potter’s wheel, I create simple, timeless forms using high-fired stoneware clay. My focus is on craftsmanship, functionality, and the beauty found in handmade objects that become part of everyday rituals.
